Some cobblers replace a sole and call it done. Steve at Bedo's Leatherworks does something different: he calls you before he starts, walks you through every option, and delivers work that customers on the other side of the country trust enough to ship their most sentimental boots to 412 W Broad St to receive.

The shop has earned a 4.6-star rating across more than 255 reviews, and the details behind those stars tell the real story. A pair of Alden Indy boots needed a full welt replacement and resole. A beat-up pair of work boots came back with custom blue welt stitching, exactly as the customer requested. A boot worn to the point of structural failure got a full restoration that made it wearable again. These aren't quick turnarounds, they're considered craft decisions made by someone who genuinely cares about the leather in his hands.

Falls Church sits between two of the most demanding consumer markets in the country, and Bedo's has built its reputation by meeting that standard one pair at a time. If the shoes matter to you, they matter to Steve.

What We Offer

Bedo's Leatherworks handles the full spectrum of leather repair and restoration, from a single worn heel to a complete structural overhaul. Sole replacements are a specialty, including Goodyear welt reconstruction for dress shoes and boots that deserve a second life rather than a landfill.

Beyond resoling, the shop offers full boot restorations, welt replacement, custom stitching colors, leather conditioning and cleaning, bag and belt repair, and zipper replacement. Whether a piece has sentimental value or simply cost too much to throw away, Steve assesses what it needs and communicates clearly before any work begins.

Bedo's also accepts mail-in repairs from customers across the country, a testament to the trust the shop has built over years of consistent, craftsman-level results. If you're local to Northern Virginia, stop in. If you're not, ship it.

"Went to Steve for a full restoration of a pair of boots with a lot of sentimental value, which I had worn to the point of failure (pictured before & after). A little more expensive, but worth every penny. I left with something better than the factory original. Strongly recommend!"

"I sent Steve at Bedo's a pair of Alden Indy's to be resoled. The welt needed to be replaced as well, so the job was a bit bigger than I expected. Steve was very communicative, calling me to discuss my boots the same day they were received to go over the options. In about 4 weeks I received my boots back, and they are better than when I bought them new from Alden of Carmel. The quality of the job is several notches above Alden itself. I immediately at an urge to send all my boots in for an upgrade. Thanks Steve and Bedo's!"

"I bought a new pair of really cool Tricker’s boots from the UK but wasn’t happy having leather soles living in Colorado. I got ahold of Steve at Bedo’s leatherworks and we came up with a plan to change them over to commando soles with leather midsoles. Steve got ‘em done at the price he quoted and finished them weeks ahead of the timing we discussed. The guy is good…like really good. I’d highly recommend him and will no doubt be back in touch for my next transformation!"

"Review for Bedos Leatherworks – Steve Doudaklian The transformation of my vintage Florsheim Imperials is truly night and day. These shoes arrived at Bedos Leatherworks worn and tired, and what Steve returned to me looks like a masterpiece fresh out of a bespoke workshop. Steve didn’t just resole them—he completely recrafted the shoes from the ground up with unmatched skill. The welt work, stitching, and finishing are flawless, far surpassing anything I’ve ever seen from factory production. Every detail was handled with precision, and the shoes now look better than when they were new. On top of that, Steve went above and beyond by creating custom shoe trees, beautifully stamped with the Imperial logo. It’s that level of detail and pride in craftsmanship that makes his work so special. If you want to see your shoes not just restored but elevated, Bedos Leatherworks is the place. Steve’s artistry proves that true craftsmanship can breathe new life into classics—and even surpass their original glory."
